The other day I had the greatest honor of doing this maternity session for one of my coworkers and friends, Valerie. Have you ever seen such a gorgeous soon-to-be mom before? She was radiant, and her love for her little family was already so evident. And I bet you didn’t even know she is pregnant with twins! I hope to look as amazing as she does with only one baby. ; )

Valerie and I actually met before I even started working at the same school. She added me on Facebook after finding out that I would be the new third grade teacher at our school, and the minute I saw her sweet Golden, her love for sunflowers, and met her at a local dog park, I knew I’d like her. Last year she and her hubby tied the knot, and it’s been so fun seeing her go through all these amazing life changes. Over the past two years we’ve enjoyed sharing stories about our sweet puppies, talking about life, and saying hi to each other in the school hallways. So naturally, I was over the moon happy when I found out she was pregnant- with twins boys, at that! When we decided to do a maternity session, I immediately knew I would have to incorporate Chuck into the shoot, and the rest just fell into place.

We headed to a park in Euless that I absolutely love. Not only does it have an amazing running path, but you barely even felt the 20+ mph wind that was whipping through North Texas that day since the park is in a little valley between some hills. Seriously a photographer’s dream park. Everything there was so green and perfect! I’ve been soaking in the gorgeous sunlight and greenery we’ve had lately before it gets hot and dead once summer hits.

At the session, we had so much fun taking pictures. Not only were Derek and Valerie perfect models, but their pup was adorable. He’s a tank of a dog, but so cuddly and playful. Chuck reminded me a lot of my brother’s dog, and you better believe I pet and snuggled with him as much as I could.

And how about those props? Valerie nailed it with the adorable clothesline, baby cowboy boots and cute little books. I am in love!

Valerie and Derek, I wish y’all nothing but the best with Benjamin and William. I can’t wait to meet your sweet boys, and to see your family grow by two. Thank you for letting me capture this exciting moment in your life!
