My Favorite Photoshoot Locations in the DFW Area

When it comes to planning your photoshoot, the location you choose can have as much of an impact on how the pictures turn out as the outfits you wear! My photography is what I like to call “airy with a punch”. You’ll get bright, beautiful pictures with that little extra umph that makes them oh so special. And the secret to getting some of those amazing pictures you see has a LOT to do with the location you choose!

When you schedule a session with Becca Sue Photography, you receive a style guide that walks you through the best outfit choices to get pictures that will not only make you look ah-ma-zing, but also help you achieve that *look* you see in a lot of my sessions. But even if you have the perfect outfit, a dark, wooded session location will make it so hard to get the bright, airy feel you are going for when you hire me as a photographer.

So I decided to make things a little easier for you and do a little round up some of my all time favorite photoshoot locations in the DFW area. This way you can see what your pictures would look like, and determine which one will work best for your session. : )
Because I get it… Planning out a photoshoot can be stressful, and I want to help make it as easy as possible for you! Pictures are an investment, and I want you to enjoy every minute of it, from the weeks leading up to our time together to the final gallery delivery. I’m here for you!

My Favorite Photoshoot Locations

McCormick Park (Euless)

This location is definitely a client favorite! It’s beautiful all year round, although my favorite time of year for this park is definitely March-June. In the early spring there’s a bluebonnet patch I love shooting in and if you hit the park at the right time you can get some gorgeous tree blossoms! After that the long wispy green grass and huge trees are so beautiful and provide plenty of shade for amazing pictures. In the fall you can find the trees changing color and the gazebo is such a fun place to change the scenery a bit.
So as you can see, this park has a little bit of everything and it’s no wonder people love it so much. : )

Grapevine Botanical Gardens (Grapevine)

I absolutely LOVE the botanical gardens for so many reasons. It’s well kept, and the flowers are so pretty year round. It’s not a huge garden, but there’s a little bit of everything to make your pictures special, like a bridge, small field and gorgeous trees. One thing to keep in mind though, is that in peak season (especially on the weekends) this place can be INSANELY crowded with people and photographers. So try going on an off day to avoid the crowds.

Lakeside Park (Dallas)

Need a fun, beautiful park for your session? Look no further than Lakeside Park in Dallas! There’s a dam that creates a pretty little pond, a pathway lined with trees, and the cutest little bridge. I LOVE this park in the spring, and the bridge is perfectly lit during golden hour. Bonus: there are bear statues you can pose with to add a little bit of fun to your session!

White Rock Lake (Dallas)

Who doesn’t love some pretty lakeside pictures? I have found THE perfect spot on White Rock Lake for pictures! There’s a beautiful dock that looks out on the water, an area with tree coverage and a little bridge that is oh so cute. Just be prepared for wind, because it’s always breezy at the lake!

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve (Plano)

This is definitely a hidden gem in the middle of the metroplex. With miles of trails and field after gorgeous field, this locations has so much to offer. And my favorite part is a little off stream that flows through the park you can take pictures in! Isaac and I took our 2 year anniversary pictures there and I just love how beautiful and romantic this location made the pictures look. Best of all, in the spring you can find some beautiful wildflowers and lots of tall wispy grass you’ll love.

Stone Creek Park (Flower Mound)

Speaking of hidden gems, I absolutely LOVE Stone Creek Park! There’s an amazing stream that flows through this park as well, with lots of stones to take pictures on. That, paired with huge fields and bridges offers lots of great variety for your pictures. Keep in mind that this park can also get busy during peak season (especially in the fall around Christmas time) so plan accordingly!

Elmer W. Oliver Nature Park (Mansfield)

Live in the Mansfield area? This park is PERFECT for you! It’s huge, and not only do you get to take some beautiful pictures, but we can walk the entire park loop for a little bit of exercise too. 😉 In the spring there’s a bluebonnet patch that is oh so pretty, and even in the winter, this park is amazing!

The Lumen Room (Dallas OR Fort Worth)

In Texas the weather can be very unpredictable, which is why I absolutely LOVE the Lumen Room! They have three studios- two in Dallas and one in Fort Worth. Each studio has something special about it, whether it be the furniture/backdrops they offer, or the color of the floor and brick wall. The room rental is added on top of the session fee, but in my opinion, it’s SO worth it. I love the simplicity of the room, because it makes the subjects shine!

Downtown Plano

Want a more urban look? I love going to downtown Plano! Not only is main street super cute, but there’s also a park there that’s perfect for taking pictures. One of my favorite places here is a big white wall across the street from the park. It makes a great, simple, minimalist backdrop for pictures. And if the sun is just right, there’s a fun mural that adds a ton of character and color to your session!

Adriatica Village (McKinney)

During the winter when trees are dead and it’s hard to find a pretty location for pictures, I LOVE finding more urban spaces to shoot at. Adriatica Village is a neighborhood in McKinney that has gorgeous stone “canals”, beautiful archways and so much more. I love the neutral color of the stone, because helps keep the pictures bright and pretty.

Dallas Arboretum (Dallas)

I am a big fan of the arboretum, and love how well kept it is year round. You’ll never go wrong with the arboretum, and each season brings a different beauty of its own to the location. This is one of my favorite places for bridals, because there are pathways that will minimize the dress getting dirty and you don’t have to wonder if it will be pretty! Things to consider: You have to pay for parking and entrance into the park, and they do not allow changing clothes in their bathroom, so come dressed ready to impress. ; )

Greenbelt Corridor (Denton)

So I know this is a bit out there to be considered in the “Dallas-Mid Cities” area, but trust me… It’s worth the drive! Isaac and I took our 1 year anniversary pictures out here, and brought some of our best friends to this location for their maternity session. Y’all… the flowers during the spring are AMAZING. Talk about wildflower heaven! Best of all, this type of flower is still going strong well into May so if you missed Bluebonnet season, you can still get that flower fix. : ) It’s also a beautiful place for pictures in the fall, with golden light and gorgeous trees. Definitely one of my favorite places!
