I invited over 400 guests to my wedding. It’s one of my favorite things to share with couples when we meet for wedding consultations. The look of shock that crosses their face always makes me laugh. It’s still hard to believe we had such a large wedding after shooting so many over the past couple of years, and I applaud my photographer for taking on the task with such grace. I can only begin to imagine what went through her head when I first told her how many people were coming. 😉
Now, while I haven’t taken pictures of a huge wedding like mine yet, this past weekend I had the privilege of experiencing the complete opposite. My first intimate wedding.
I didn’t know what to expect when I heard there were only eleven people attending this wedding. I knew the wedding day was going to look different than normal. But what I didn’t expect was how much I would enjoy the small, family affair. It was relaxed. Joyous. And intimate.
Parents smiled at each other as they watched their babies join together in marriage. The flower girl beamed up at her uncle as he said his vows. The pastor joked with the young couple over inside jokes. And I am so thankful I was able to be there for Kim and Zac’s special day. It was truly beautiful, and Kim was glowing!
So while I may have had a crazy big wedding, I think I’m officially a fan of the small ones. Anyone else? 😉
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Mecom!
