It was a beautiful early summer evening in Oregon when I got to hang out with the Harris family. The wind was blowing, the wildflowers lined the roads, and the sun was slowly dipping behind the mountains. As I breathed in the fresh Oregonian air, my heart felt so FULL. That night reminded me of why I love my job.
We spent two hours together laughing and dancing in the flowers.
I smiled so much my cheeks hurt by the end of the session.
The little girls hammed it up for their pictures, and Cassie and David were so in love I could feel it.
There were mama hugs and daddy tickles.
The girls picked flowers for me as they ran through the field.
And my favorite part of all?
Seeing the smiles on their faces when they saw the pictures I had taken.
One of my goals as a photographer is to capture pictures families will cherish forever. The beauty of photography is that it captures a specific moment in time so years later you can look back and remember those little (and big) moments. Like how Miley-Kate loved spinning around in her dress. Or the way Emry smelled every single flower. Or cute little McKinley’s cheesy grin, because she felt so pretty and grown up. Or how the sisters raced through the flowers, then cheered on McKinley as she tried to catch up.
It was so sweet watching the girls interact with each other and seeing how much they love their Mommy and Daddy. I could tell David was smitten with his ladies, and Cassie is seriously a super mom. I didn’t realize that my best friend moving to Oregon would mean getting to know the Harris family, but let me tell ya… I am SO THANKFUL it happened. Especially when all three sisters claimed me as their best friend when we left. #melting
I can’t wait to hang out with my new best friends the next time I’m in town. Until then, keep on pretending, loving life and never stop dancing.
