I was there the day my brother and Cassie first met last April. We were at the Jazz Festival in Denton, walking around looking at all the art, listening to live music and stuffing our faces with delicious food. You could tell from the minute they began talking to each other that there was something different… a connection, a spark, something…
So when they finally began dating in October, you better believe I was over the moon happy for them. I honestly could not think of a better person for Jarrett, and you could tell that Cassie was head over heels for him. They were inseparable from the minute they made it official, and when she came up to my parents’ house Thanksgiving weekend to spend some time with the family, I knew it was meant to be. In fact, I began planning Jarrett’s proposal months before he even decided he was going to pop the question. 😉
After lots of planning, on a hot, sunny Saturday in April he surprised Cassie in the middle of a field of bluebonnets, and asked her to be his wife. She, obviously, said yes, and the wedding planning began!
Pulling off a wedding in only 90 days is a little insane, but somehow Cassie managed to pull it off. When she called to ask if I would be a bridesmaid, I was ecstatic. I couldn’t wait to be there by her side to watch her start a new life with my brother! And then, after a lot of discussion, pros and cons lists, and research, I also became the primary photographer for her big day.
Yes, you read that right, I was a bridesmaid and the photographer. The looks on peoples’ faces when they heard that always made me laugh. It was a little scary going into it, trying to figure out how we’d make it work, but somehow we did! I still can’t believe it.
To pull this whole thing off I teamed up with an amazing local photographer, Kelli, from Kelli Holder Photography. She and I took the same photography classes, and our styles are so similar that I knew she’d be perfect for the job. After meeting up with her, shooting Cassie’s bridals together, and messaging throughout the entire process, I was blown away with not only her sweet disposition, but crazy photography skills! We had a great time together, and I honestly know I couldn’t have done it without her.

I also want to throw a HUGE shoutout to my little sister Rachel, for being Kelli’s second shooter during the ceremony, and for snapping pictures throughout the weekend while I was busy bridesmaid-ing. It was such a blessing to have her there for support, and she did an amazing job! Maybe I’ll have a little protege in a few years?? 😉
All in all the weekend was a crazy blur. It was a ton of fun, exhausting, and exciting. I am so happy for Jarrett and Cassie, and am thrilled to have such a sweet sister-in-law. She and Jarrett are so cute together, and you can tell from the pictures just how in love they are.
Also, wasn’t their wedding absolutely gorgeous? I was seriously oohing and aahing over all the flowers, decorations and venue. Photographer heaven, y’all! I still can’t believe Cassie was able to pull this together in just 3 months while also finishing up her year of teaching, preparing for her cross country move to the Great White North (aka North Dakota) with my brother, and you know, living life. She’s incredible!
