It was a warm, humid spring day. Anticipation was in the air, and smiles came easily to everyone’s faces. The moment we had been waiting for was finally here. I had watched Ethan search for his future wife for years. He had waited patiently to meet Audrey, and from the moment I first saw them together, I knew he had finally found the one.

The one who would be his happily ever after.
The one he would call his family.
And the one that was going to be his wife.

On that beautiful spring evening, Audrey received the biggest surprise of her life. She thought she was back at the little house she had rented to pick up a package. But it turns out there was a lot more in store for her than a “misaddressed” Amazon box. Ethan led her to the front door and had her check what was in the box. She pulled out pieces of memories. Bits of the past eight months that made Ethan think of her. Then she read a letter he had written for her.

“Is this really happening?”

Tears were welling up in Audrey’s eyes as she read Ethan’s letter. Her heart was racing and hands began to shake.

“Wait. Is this really happening?”

Ethan just laughed and said, “What’s happening? What are you talking about?”

And then, when she finished reading, she looked over at him and beamed. Ethan smiled back as he reached for her hands to pull her close.
He got down on one knee and asked his best friend if she would be his wife. Audrey squealed “YES” and Ethan pulled her into a hug. His nerves were gone. She said yes. This really. was. happening.

The rest of the night was a blur of hugs, laughter and tears. To say everyone was over the moon for Ethan and Audrey is an understatement. But the best part of the night? Seeing the newly engaged couple smile at each other from across the crowd. How they couldn’t stop giggling. And how absolutely in love they were.
